My refrigerator gave out and I needed a new one immediately. My local vendor had this model in stock but only in black. I purchased it because it was a good price and had features such as internal ice maker and water dispenser. I have since discovered another feature I had overlooked which is the unit beeping an alarm to warn you when one or both of the doors are not sealed properly shut. It actually happens a lot at my house and I'm so glad the frig alerts me! The ice maker is in the freezer drawer and makes a ton of ice. I love the large container that holds the ice, but beware if you drop ice, it will end up falling through into the bottom and you'll need to fish it out. The drawer in the frig for meat and cheese is something I really like, and the doors are big and deep enough for gallons of milk. All in all, I really am pleased with this purchase even though I had no other options.

Unit had damage to the doors when delivered. The freezer door is hard to open and close. You have to remember to push hard on closing or you lose temperature. The french doors don't always close tightly resuling in loss of cool temperature. The alarm does not sound when the french door is loose since the light is not on. In other words, you are losing cool temperature with no warning. Insulation is protruding from the bottom of the doors which is clearly noticeable (whute spots on a black door) and unsightly. A refrigerator this expensive should not have these issues. Very disappointed in the lack of quality in this unit.

It's a decent unit, but could use some improvements. The fridge is level both side to side and front to back. The installation crew took care of that. Even so, the effort required to open the french doors isn't the same. The right side is just okay, but the left side opens too easily. I have to be careful to not "throw" it open. It would be nice if the door cams were adjustable. I didn't see anything on that in the manual. If I get bored, I'll give it a little more rearward "tilt" and see if it helps. I didn't look in advance, but I prefer square ice cubes. These are the half-moon type. Also "max ice" is underwhelming. I had to bump up the recommended 38° fridge temp, as it kept freezing items placed on the top shelf directly in front of the cold air discharge. I like the adjustable shelves, and the oversize meat drawer is nice too.

I have had my new appliance now for one week. My last one lasted 15 years! This is almost the same one so I™™m happy about it. But there are things whirlpool has got to change! First off it™™s very easy to scratch! Plus fingerprints are horrible! The thing I didn™™t like is trying to get those tape marks off!! You have to use something else to keep the fridge in tack when delivered! Otherwise I am happy Maybe I™™ll get another 15 years we™™ll see!

I am Bob's wife, Kathy, and I will be reviewing the refrigerator because I was the one who picked it out! We are very pleased with our new appliance, especially with the French doors. Lots of room on top for all our food and it is very easy to find things. I am actually using the bottom drawer for a vegetable drawer because it is so big and I buy lots of salad fixings. Bottom freezer is nice too but I do find myself having to move things around a lot to allow the drawer to close. My refrigerator is black but it does seem to show more smudges than my old one. Wish they could put the same textured surface on the doors that is on the side. We like the fact that without an ice maker in the door, we seem to have more space and my husband is getting used to having the water dispenser inside. We always have plenty of ice. Overall, it was an excellent purchase.

I bought this refrigerator because it was the same size and color (black) as my old Frigidaire that died after 14 years of faithful service. I'm keeping my fingers crossed with this Whirlpool because after a week and a half of use there are several things that bug me. First, it is significantly louder than my old fridge. Every time the compressor kicks on, I pray it won't be the last. Second, when I close the lefthand door, it forces the righthand door open, before both finally close. This was not an issue with the old fridge and I suspect at some point, I will have to push the righthand door closed as well. Third, where are eggs supposed to go? There is no dedicated tray for eggs and the door shelves are too deep to be practical for this purpose. Fourth, the large pullout freezer drawer seems rather lightweight and sub-par for the task, especially the drawer glides. I guess plastic is cheaper than metal. Also, there is no provision to adjust the height of the rear rollers from the front of the fridge so if your floors are not perfectly level, your fridge will wobble.Yes, I'm unimpressed with the fit and finish of the construction, but so far it keeps things cold and that has to count for something, right?

Avoid if you want quality for your money

Was a decent fridge, until it wasn™™t. At 14 months post-purchase, the fridge and freezer completely stopped working, causing us to lose hundreds in groceries and wreck our flooring from the ice thawing out and melting. The part wasn™™t covered because we were 2 months past the one-year warranty. If I wanted to spend $3000+ on a fridge (purchase price + $650 to fix the main control panel) I would have purchased something much higher quality. Not impressed. The repair company contracted through Whirlpool made the entire experience 100 times worse and I felt completely uncomfortable with the service man and the way he spoke to me in my home.

The humidity control is a neat feature to have but the best feature is the inside water dispenser. Prevents accidental water dispensing from cats or curious kids. Love the fridge, it is an exact replacement of our previous one with the addition of the water filter, which is wonderful. However, almost every time I open the freezer drawer the ice cubes move about and dump into the bottom of the freezer. If you made the ice container with a higher back it would be a very welcome addition and would help with the ice spills. We had the same issue with the previous one, which we didn't purchase as it came with the new house.

Original order and delivery went well. That is when the wheels fell off. Installers plugged unit in, and it made an awful sound. Contacted Whirlpool and they offered to replace. Communication since the replacement conversion have been confusing or non-existing (order cancelled, extended warranty not available / cancelled, replacement delivery changes with no email notice). Told that we cannot use the new delivered, but replacement delayed yet again. No offer made to replace with different unit available in stock.
